It has raised a higher requirement for higher education in the era of knowledge economy and globalization trend, the leaping development of higher education in China leads to unconventionally rapid development of higher vocational education and great changes of ideological and political education environment in vocational college. On this background, there is a new attempt for ideological and political education in vocational college. In order to promote overall development of students, it has to examine the ideological and political education in brand new ideas, break through the original concept and method, develop work basing on the particularity and pertinence of vocational college students.By analysing management concept and mode of groups social work, this paper explores and innovates methods of ideological and political education in vocational college with the introduction of groups social work.First, deeply unscramble the function of groups social work and explore its correlation with ideological and political education under the analysis of connotation of groups social work.Second, introduce the management concept and mode of groups social work into ideological and political education, it contributes to the innovation of the working concept and practice of ideological and political education in vocational college. Meanwhile, it contributes to not only the innovation of idea, method and models of ideological and political education, but also the scientific and professional construction of that in necessary. The interlinked nature of ideological and political education in vocational college and groups social work, as well as organization architecture of vocational college have provided precondition of the introduction of groups social work.Third, explore the results of using group social work in the ideological and political education of vocational college students in practice, analysis the strengths and shortcomings of its using in ideological and political education of vocational college students.Fourth, explore the approach of introducing group social work into ideological and political education in vocational college. Introduce the concept and principle of group social work to strengthen the students’ ownership of ideological and political education. Learn from group social work methods and skills to improve the effectiveness of ideological and political education.
