As a teaching method or teaching concept, research-based teaching and learning lead students to inquiry actively and cultivate their innovative practice ability, it has become the core content of domestic and overseas universities’teaching and learning reform in21st century. During our country’s high educational process, although the voice of research-based teaching and learning is high, and the Ministry of Education and universities give more attention to research-based teaching and learning, the learning style of most undergraduates is still knowledge transference oriented, students are short of autonomous innovative learning. In the present situation, based on the analysis of research-based teaching and learning’s background, significance, connotation, historical development, literature review and theoretical foundations, this paper takes the research-based teaching and learning practice of Dalian University of Technology for example, the paper analyze and study the series of measurements and concrete cases of this university from macroscopic, microcosmic and case study aspects. In addition, by conducting undergraduate questionnaire survey, this paper collect undergraduates’ more feedback to the practice of research-based teaching and learning, and according to the feedback and related literature, the paper analyze the existed problems and shortcomings in the implementation of research-based teaching and learning. Based on the acquaintance of Dalian University of Technology’s research-based teaching and learning practice, relying on the university’s available resources, and from the point of undergraduate scientific research ability cultivation, this paper construct a set of integrated research-based teaching and learning model, which may be used for reference or need further discuss. Moreover, the paper also analyze the measurements which guarantee the effective operation of research-based teaching and learning.This thesis is divided into following sections:Part I:To clarify the research background and significance of research-based teaching and learning, interpret the connotation of research-based teaching and learning, define the relationship and difference among research-based teaching, research-based learning and inquiry-based learning. To analyze and summarize the historical development and relative literature research of research-based teaching and learning. Part Ⅱ:To analyze research-based teaching and learning’s psychology theoretical foundation, education theoretical basis and the theory basis featured science and engineering education.Part Ⅲ:Taking Dalian University of Technology for example, analyze and study the university’s macroscopic research-based teaching and learning reform; microscopic research-based teaching and learning reform on basis of classroom, experiment and project teaching; case study of successful research-based teaching and learning reform. By using questionnaire survey and literature analysis, analyze the problems and shortcomings in the implementation of research-based teaching and learning from teacher, student, administrator aspects.Part Ⅳ:Based on the study of Dalian University of Technology’s implementation of research-based teaching and learning, discuss the construction of research-based teaching and learning model. To ensure the effective operation of this model, the thesis analyze concrete guarantee measures from the following aspects:construction of teaching staff, the reform of educational facility management style, the reform of teachers performance evaluation system, the construction of pluralistic evaluation system for student performance, teaching resource optimization.
