City left-behind children is a special educated group that appears in the process of thesocial structure transformation. City left-behind children refers to those who register in city ortown, without one or both parents’ accompany for a long time. This research takes the childrenwho register in city or town without one or both parents’ accompany for a long time as theresearch object. These children age from7--13and are left in boarding class by their parents. This research adopts interview method, field observation research method and others to revealchildren’s life and emotional problems caused by one or both parents’ long time absence inorder to pour out children’s appeal in the family, education, social environment and selfeducation. The results of the study show that:Firstly, a serial of problems about living, studying and emotion exist in the city left-behindchildren. These problems have also been reflected in rural left-behind children, but because ofthe differences in education, growth environment, and family background, the city left-behindchildren have their own special problems. Owing to the superior family conditions and theirpatents’ high level of education, city left-behind children are doomed to be sent to highquality school and receive good education. We can say that the existence of boarding classmake city left-behind children different from rural left-behind children.Secondly, because of the lack of parents’ participation, the city left-behind children inboarding class appear to have problems of lacking prosaically behaviors and unidirectionalemotional expression. Those problems are mainly due to the loss of family education andlearning education. So parents and school should take on the responsibility of raising andeducating city left-behind children. Although the existence of the boarding class still indispute, the author thinks that the existence of the boarding class still has its social value.Thirdly, to solve the problem of city left-behind children, help from family, school andsociety are needed. At the same time, city left-behind children should learn to strengthen theirown abilities. To solve the problems of city left-behind children is not being accomplished inone day, but a long term project.
