With the establishment of the socialist law system with Chinese characteristics and the deepening legal construction, the whole society has put forward higher requirements of the legal education. As special educational institutions fostering compound talents with all-round development, colleges and universities have an obvious advantages on system legal education.On September,1,1986, former State Educational Commission issued 《On announcement of the launch of’Basic course of law’ for higher education》, began the process of the higher legal education formally.with approximate20years’ endeavor, higher legal education ripens rapidly and has achieved greatly. But there are still some of the more prominent problems, as follows:vacancy of legal education goal, complexity contents of legal education, backwardness of teaching measures, oversimplification of teaching mode, unscientific assessments approaches, educators with uneven teaching level and so on.Several reasons can account for these problems, part of universities haven’t attached due attention to legal education, on the other hand, students lack of intrinsic motivation when learning. Teachers, parents, and social environment also play a part.To solve these problems, this article argues that can be improved from the following aspects:Firstly, to meet the requirements of political development, economical development, cultural development, college students’ comprehensive development, colleges and universities should formulate scientific and systematic legal educational targets as early as possible. Secondly, make a rational choice about the current educational contents, reflect professional differences, highlight legal awareness and belief education. Thirdly, develop the advantage of modern educational measures to form vivid, directly perceived and interactive classroom teaching. Fourthly, broaden the field of legal education, carry out a variety of internal and external legal practical activities. Make full use of the network of educational resources and more to play its hidden educational function. Fifthly, reform existing legal assessment approaches, increase other forms such as open-book examination, course paper, daily behavior assessment and so on. At last, colleges and universities should care more about legal teachers, improve their overall quality, enhance their occupation sense of honor and enthusiasm for work.
