Research On The Influence Of Social Support To Poverty Degree

Now China has been the second largest economy in the world.However, the size of urban poor families is still huge, and the livingstandard is still low. With the development of the theory of poverty andanti-poverty, social support gradually becomes a new perspective to studypoverty issues. Social support is important to relieve poverty degree,improve living standard of poor families and narrow income gap betweenresidents.Based on the social support theory, this paper builds the social supportindex system on the basis of combing scholars of social support andpoverty and anti-poverty at home and abroad and combining with theclassification of social support and SSSC drawed up by Xiao Shuiyuan.The index system contains four dimensions: network support, utilization support, social interaction support and information support. This paperbuilds the social support-poverty degree model, and analyzes therelationship of social support and poverty degree of urban poor familiesby using the actual data and factor analysis and multiple regressionanalysis.Through the analysis of the relationship of four dimensions of socialsupport and poor families· poverty degree, three conclusions are drawed:social support can relieve the poverty degree; Different dimensions ofsocial support have different influence on the poverty degree, theutilization support factor has the biggest impact, the social interactionsupport factor is the second, the information support factor is third, andthe network support factor has a smallest impact; Social support is one ofthe reasons which cause different poverty degree of the urban poorfamilies.Finally, this paper made an analysis to the social support-povertydegree model and puts forward several recommendations to relieve poorfamilies·poverty degree by improving poor families·social support.
