In the course of the human social advancement, university has been the position forcultivating such high quality talents, the place of development of science and technology,and shoulder the mission of spreading knowledge, promote Chinese culture. To the reformand opening up of China, the cause of higher education has the great development, thethought ethics and cultural qualities of the university staffs and students also continue torise. However, the pros and cons of social and cultural changes in the thirty-odd yearsreflects the process though university culture, extreme individualism, hedonism,malpractices begin prevailing, which cause a series of negative influences of ideologicalof universities’ students and the development of campus culture. So, it’s becoming thenew task and historic requirements to how to make the social theme which is made up ofthe main ideological, the common ideal for socialism and the core socialist values tooccupy the inner life of the students and forge the thought spiritual home of students.The thematic education is the dominant content in higher education and the importantpart of composing the university campus culture, it plays a role in campus culture’ otherareas and also in the central place in higher-education system. The thematic educationshould focus on the campus culture construction, it takes promoting the students’ moralquality, cultural literacy as the goal, helping students establish correct, values on life andpromoting the students become a useful man and get a overall development.Empirical research method are applied in the article. Based on the connotation ofsocialist main theme and academic analysis of main theme’s value, the investiqatorparticipates the "red melody" activity of YanShan University by herself, thereby revealingthe current situation of the thematic education, exploring the path of learner-centered,well-rounded, stereoscopic pattern and enhancing effectiveness of the thematic educationto provide important reference for improving effectiveness of ideological and politicaleducation in universities and to guide the development of campus culture in a healthy way.
