According to the guiding ideology of the " health first", quality education andlifelong education, teaching of physical education in our colleges undertaking a greatreformation, many universities have partly emerged sports project into the universitysports curriculum and elective courses. Yoga exercise assembles health, strength andbeauty in one, becoming the contemporary college students of all ages. Thedevelopment of yoga classes exist a lot of problem at a insufficient standard. The articletakes Changzhutan Universities as the research object, using the method of literature,questionnaire, interview, logic analysis and other research methods on the teachingpresent situation of college Yoga elective courses to carry on the research. The researchshows that:1The elective courses’ yoga teaching goals of Changzhutan colleges are basicallyclear. The curriculum is mainly included in the public PE course, elective course and theauxiliary teaching course.The teaching hours are almost28-36hours. The majority ofstudents are girls, boys rarely. The means of students learning about yoga divernumerously,while students’ learning motivation and interest in yoga are very strong.yoga teachers are all from aerobics, gymnastics, body changing form. the maincontent of yoga teaching are the basic body posture, almost no teachers taking theory,difficult position, meditation as the main teaching contents. the traditional way ofteaching is the mainstream.6universities share the same place with other sports events,no specialized yoga teaching venues. Students are satisfied with the teachers’ teachingcontent selection, and teaching methods, while students’ learning attitude and themastery of technical action is the students assessment basis.There are some schoolsusing their own teaching materials and the others use self Yoga lecture notes.2It points out that students’ Yoga awareness and interest, students own conditions,teachers’ professional level, teaching content and teaching environment are the impactedfactors of Changzhutan college Yoga elective course teaching.3It proposed revamp Yoga elective course teaching content and strengtheningproject of building sports yoga, yoga teachers team construction, improving theteachers’ professional qualities, optimizing Yoga elective course teaching methods andmeans, arousing the interest of students, strengthening Yoga elective course teachingmaterial construction, standardizing teachers’ teaching behavior,improving Yogaelective course teaching facilities, creating a campus Fitness Yoga culture atmosphere,promoting campus yoga sports Yoga elective course teaching, deepening the theoryresearch, perfecting yoga teaching theory system countermeasure.
