Most of Chinese students will take the college entrance examination every year in order to join the university. Higher education has developed very rapidly in the past years. Higher education has transformed from the education of elites to that of the mass. Now in China, higher education is gradually changing from the elite education to the mass education with the deepening of education system reform. But the problems appear subsequently.Under this background,the group who give up to take the college entrance examination appeared. The article plans to explore the choice of this group from the capital of family. It could not only help us to know the current situation of this group, but also perfect the higher education system.The study mainly adopted these two method:in-depth interview and the case study. Through the deep interview with nine students and one parent, select four case for the case study.The article consists of four parts, including introduction and three chapters.The first part is the preface. It mainly discussed the research contents and methods. Meanwhile, advancing the theoretical framework of study, based on the literature review and data analysis. The second part introduce the variety of the group.The third part shows the four individual case’s capital of family.The last part is based on the preceding chapter and gives the main conclusions, discusses the deficiency of the research.the educational selection behaviour of the group who give up the college entrance examination is diversified. It is not only reflected on the reason, but also reflected on the selection behaviour. The research claims that the family which own more family capital have more choice than the family which own less family capital. Secondly, the person who is in the charge of the family has the most powerful discourse right in choice. In the end, compared with family economic capital, family culture capital and family social capital is more important in choice.
