With the foundation of New China, vocational education has developed amidst twists and turns. Especially after the reform and opening-up, China’s vocational education enlarged the scale, intensified reform, stepped up the pace of development and got acknowledged accomplishments as well as become an increasingly important part in the overall education system. Having been surrounding the basic style of educational history, the paper analyses the educational activities of vocational schools from1949to1999. systematically. in the light of latest advise and actual practice got from the study of educational activity history unfold by the academic community. Through the specific, vivid and fresh educational activities, the paper focuses on narrative comment on the management activities, teaching activities, teacher employment activities and character education activities of vocational schools to show the development and evolution, track of changing, achievements. and existing problems in the various activities. to reveal the key point and motive power in the development of vocational education. Besides, the paper also points out, in oder to achieve further substantial development, needs government, society, vocational schools and their teachers and students make great effort together. Only with that can we create a vocational education with Chinese characteristics in the constantly theoretical and practical activities.
