The growth and quality of college students always get lots of concernsnowadays. With the enrollment expansion continuing in recent years, somemiddle-middle grades students are able to enter university. What’s different from eliteeducation is that students are now difficult to do self-study; they used to follow themodel of learning and thinking in middle school, their understanding of university isnot in place, and therefore can not enter the role as soon as possible, they often fallinto the "body in college, mind in high school "errors. Lacks of the role consciousnessof college students will inevitably lead to a series of problems, may even produce avariety of mental illness in the long run.College is a real psychological weaning period, which is a critical period ofpersonal growth and development. Only by establ ishing a "college" role ofconsciousness can lead to the formation of behavior and thinking patterns, and thusget university education effectively. Although the problem of college students’ roleconsciousness have become increasingly serious, there are few related studies, andmost are focus on the role of teachers, which are not enough to support the solution ofthe problem. In this study, we firstly sort out and analyze the results of relevantresearch. With reference to the theory of the formation of consciousness establishedby Newcomb, the United States developmental psychologist, the paper is mainlybased on Xi Chongqing’s theory. Through the preparation of the questionnaire, collecting samples for individual interviews and questionnaires, and using descriptivestatistics and differences analysis methods, we explore the status quo of the formationof college students’ role consciousness deeply, and analyze the diversity of collegestudents’ role consciousness. We also study the factors of the formation of roleconsciousness and finally put forward some countermeasures and suggestions.Analysis shows that college students’ role consciousness is not clear enough;most students do not really identify themselves as college students. Theirunderstanding of college and college students are not in place, and a considerable proportion of students do not even understand the difference between college andsecondary education, which makes them hard to adapt to college life. In addition tostudents’ own reasons, the management and guidance of college have some problemstoo, whichaffect the formationof college students’ro le consciousness.Based on the above survey, we put forward the following recommendations toenhance college students’ role consciousness. On the side of college administration,(1) strengthen the effectiveness of entrance education, and guide students to recognizethe difference between college and secondary education;(2) improve curriculum andteaching standards, help students master the learning ability, and gradually learn howto self-learn. On the side of students,(1) understand and accept the new environmentchallenges with a positive attitude, and spare no efforts to shorten the distance withthe new role;(2) enhance self-understanding to establish development goals, andfocus on the formulation and implementation of academic planning;(3) participate inthe teaching process actively, and develop self-learning ability.
