Hands - On (doing) In The Application Of Elementary School Mathematics Learning

The new round reform of mathematics curriculum puts forward tochanging the traditional learning mode which is passive acceptance toactive exploring way. In the outline, it says "We should advocate thelearning mode which students can take part in actively, make aninquiry and discovery, exchange and collaborate with the partners. Itpays attention to students experience and learning interest. In theprocess of curriculum implementation, we should change thephenomenon which relies on the teaching materials too much, putsemphasis on receptive learning, mechanical memorizing and training."This paper is based on the concept of the new curriculum reform. Itcombines Hands-on activity which is used in the education reform ofscience with the elementary mathematic learning. First of all, throughthe comparison and analysis of two mathematic teaching cases, theauthor presents the basic general overview of Hands-on in elementarymathematic study. Then, the author describes the development historyand theoretical basis of Hands-on activity. At the same time, the authorexpounds Hands-on activity’s meaning, basic process and thecharacteristics. Based on this, the author discusses the significance ofHands-on which applies in elementary mathematic study.This paper’semphasis is that through the concrete mathematic teaching cases itinduces Hands-on activity’s organization ways, the characteristics andstrategies of the activity’s homework design. Finally, some problemswhich are worth discussing further about the Hands-on activity’sapplication in elementary mathematic learning are mentioned, forgiving some revelations to other educators or researchers, promotingthem to enrich this research.
