Ministry of Chinese Education issues New National Curriculum Standards of the senior middle English." New National Curriculum Standards "points out that the task of English on basic education stage is to stimulate and encourage students to learn English, build confidence and acquire good habits of study It also can create an effective strategy to develop independent study, capable of learning and cooperation; At the same time it can make students grasp some basic English knowledge and develop the skills of hearing, reading, speaking and writing. It can help students develop the ability of observing, memory and thinking, imagining and innovative spirit. Whafs more, it can help students understand the cultural difference between China and western countries. So it can help develop training of patriotism and forming a healthy life and lay a good foundation for their lifelong learning. Obviously, in New National Curriculum Standards "the centre of students’general quality and lifelong development takes the place of the former center of subjects. Multiple targets take the place of a single goal. At the same time, the appraisal system embodies the subject of diversification and the diversity of evaluation forms. In June,2010, Hunan province underwent the first National Matriculation English after the implementation of the New National Curriculum.In2010, in many provinces and cities, MNET still locates the grammatical multiple choices in the English knowledge usage part. The candidates are still required to choose the best option to fill the blanks from a, b, c and d of four options. It is stable over twenty years in MNET. Can the multiple choices meet the demand of the new curriculum standards? The author chose the grammatical multiple choices in the NMET papers of Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu province Anhui province, Hunan province, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang province, Shandong in2010for statistical analysis. At the same time, the author also chose the grammatical multiple choices in2010Hunan NMET paper for statistical analysis. From the comparative analysis of the past two years MNET papers, the author tried to find new changes of the multiple choices in2010NMET paper. The author found the forms and the amounts of grammatical multiple choices in2010NMET pagers keep the same as those in2009MNET papers. The distribution of scores have no big changes. Most MNET papers uses traditional grammatical multiple choices.Only Guangdong NMET paper uses the forms of filling in the blanks to test candidates’English knowledge.Both2009NMET paper and2010NMET paper keep the same in the coverage of English knowledge. Although the multiple choices covers15points, but it almost deals with almost all items, including article, nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, verbs and common clause, sentences, etc. The testing of the verb is a priority, including tense, voice, the modal verb and a predicate verb or verb sentences (an imperative clause), phrases.Facing English single multiple choice questions, in which method can the middle school students deal with them? The author made some enquiries. The results shows that the students use different ways to deal with the multiple choice questions, Though the examinees can choose the right answers, but it does not suggest the abilities of using knowledge. So the reliability is being doubted. This thesis aims to study the effectiveness of2010NMET multiple choices and its scientific testing methods. And the author hopes to start a discussion on the post-form multiple choices for candidates under the guidance of New National curriculum Standards (NNCS), so as to achieve the purpose of selecting the most capable students for universities and colleges, implementing the quality education, promoting the new curriculum reform and the reform of English teaching in secondary school, continuously improving the NMET pattern and promoting the reform of NMET.
