With the guidance of the new “Curriculum Standard” aboutBiology, a series of changes in teaching concept, objective, system ofteaching materials, instructional strategies and assessment come about.New teaching concept suggests that students should learnautonomously and creatively. The new teaching materials of Biologybenefit students to achieve three-dimensional objectives. Meanwhile, itis a great challenge for teachers to find appropriate teacher methods.At present, there exist several problems in designing the Biology lessons.Some teachers do not take the comprehension and competence ofstudents into consideration, when preparing their lessons; some lessonsare not designed scientifically and systematically sot that teachers cannot use the teaching materials to the fullest. Thus, it’s high time tooptimize the teaching strategies, which hopefully help students fostertheir own scientific literacy.The author attempts to do a research, intended to seek themost suitable teaching strategies. Combing practice with theory, theauthor takes teaching objectives, teaching materials and students intoaccount, when designing the lessons, which is expected to improve theefficiency of teaching gradually.According to three different lesson styles (including lessons forconcept, for experiment and for revision), the essay presents differentdetailed cases, in which teacher highlights what are important anddifficult. The participants are Senior three students from Class5(thecontrolled class) and Class6(the experimental class). The research wasdesigned to use the methods of tests, questionnaire and SPSS Softwareto gather the data from the teaching experiment, which indicates thatif it can help students learn efficiently and get science literacy.As the result of the research reveals, optimizing the teaching materials with proper teaching designs, the author finds apparently thatthe students from the experimental class are equipped withautonomous learning, cooperation skills, creativity and science literacybetter. It is easily concluded that the experimental teaching methodsare beneficial to Biology teaching in long term.
