Learning environment is an important supporting condition for English learning, and isan important variable that influences English learning. Literature review and research showthat systematic researches on English learning environment, especially on the rural provincialmodel high school English learning environment is not much enough.This research assess English learning environment in the rural provincial model highschool through questionnaire survey from three aspects, such as English physical environment,English human environment and English institutional environment. The main researchquestions include:(1) what’s the current situation of English learning environment in thisrural provincial model high school in Anhui province?(2)What are the causes for currentsituation in this rural provincial model high school?(3) How to construct a rich Englishlearning environment?This study adopts packet sampling and random sampling method to select229studentsincluding one1st grade class, one2nd grade class and one3rd grade class in this ruralprovincial model high school in Anhui Province. The status of English learning environmentin rural provincial model high school in Anhui province is analyzed through self-editedquestionnaire survey in this study. Each dimension of the overall construct validity is between0.70and0.82, and the test-retest reliability is0.75. The result of recycling questionnairesurvey is analyzed by SPSS17.0software. The research results show that in the evaluation onEnglish learning environment in rural provincial model high school, the total mean is1.8590and Std. deviation is0.50734, and Min. is0.47, and Max. is3.33. Normally, score over3means the English learning environment of the rural provincial high school is rich, and scoreless than1means the English learning environment is simple, and scores between1and3mean the English learning environment is relevantly simple.218students’ scores are between1and3, especially,182students’ scores are between1.25and2.50, and only3students’scores are over3point. The average score of English physical environment is1.5927, and thestandard is0.62931.The average score of English human environment is2.1999, and standarddeviation is0.56534. The average score of institutional environment is1.8046, and the standard deviation is0.54652.Based on this, this research further analyzes problems and itscauses.Under the background of advocating teaching reform, rural provincial model high schoolstill take examination as goal-oriented during teaching and management, and focus onteaching material and teaching method. Moreover, the understanding of English learningenvironment can’t advance with time, and the emphasis on other constructing elements in theEnglish environmental system is not enough. English learning environment in rural provincialmode high school is relatively simple, and cannot fully meet students and teaching reform.During the process of constructing new English learning environment, the improvementof physical environment should be valued, and other elements of English learningenvironment also should be emphasized, especially take other measures such as changingteaching concept, strengthening teacher-student interaction, student-student assistance anddiverse assessment system, and finally construct a harmonious region English learningenvironment.
