Development Of Social Workers’Professional Quality

Since the reform and open policy, social management and social construction problems have been placed in very important position. Social work is an important part of social management and social construction, in addition social workers are admitted to be professionals. In the view of professionalization, however, there are still many problems in their personal qualities which has been paid widely social attention. Therefore, it has profound theoretical and practical values to do some researches on them. In view of this, the article focuses on realizing the professionalization of social workers and the development of their professional qualities. Based on the professional theory as the guide, this research have investigated the quality status of on-the-job social workers, and discussed several strategies to boost the development of their professional quality, but also provided advices and references on constructing professional social worker team for the civil affairs department. This paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter:introduction. From the macro level of human development and national attention, the medium level of the adult education academic attention, and the micro level of social workers’ appeal to be professional, the paper has described the background and also explained the theoretical and practical significance to realize professionalization of social workers so as to clear the urgency and necessity for research. At the same time, domestic and overseas relevant literature has been reviewed in the paper and further defined the research emphases, research methods and the research way.Chapter2:theoretical basis. This chapter focuses on the meanings and values of professionalization theory, the quality of talents structure theory, basic principle of talent growth and talent incentive theory that guide the training of professional social workers and development of their professional quality. The paper explains and identifies the concept, standard and characteristics of professionalization etc. And also it deconstructs the basic connotation of professionalization deeply so as to explore professional requirements and standards which apply to social workers. The incentive theory which is from the psychological demand of talents and the talents growth principle are applied to the training of professional social workers and the development of their professional quality, they also laid a theoretical foundation for the research.Chapter3:The present situation investigation and analysis about professional quality and development status about social workers. The research chooses some social workers as research samples who work in social work station of Shanghai. The survey found "three major contradictions and six big problems" in the training of social workers’ professional quality. Then they provided first-hand information for coming up with pointed strategies which are used for the training of professional social workers and the development of their professional quality.Chapter4:The strategies for developing social workers’professional quality. According to the complex problems with the development of their professional quality, the thesis puts forward the integrity development strategy from the view of system theory. Among the rest, promoting professional identity is the precondition; Establishing a professional training system is the main way; Perfecting security support system is the necessary condition. This strategy emphasizes that the idea, practice, system must be combined and the society, the community, social workers three parties are a linkage. Only in this way can social workers move forward and transform into professionalization. Thus social workers’ personal and social value will appear completely.
