Under The Background Of Feminist Movement, Women's Higher Education Research In The United States

American women’s higher education began in the early nineteenth Century. The history of it has been nearly200years. Review the history of its development, we known that there are many factors of society impact it, such as, the level of economic development, people’s traditional ideas, the social public opinion, and so on. But each phase of American women’s higher education development, feminists plays a very important role. The history of women’s higher education development also records the history of feminist movement development.Feminist movement pushes the development of women’s higher education. Instead, the development of American women’s higher education also affects the feminist movement. Of course, all sectors of society have never stopped support women’s higher education development. The reason is that women’s education has not only effect on social progress, but also effect on national development. Education profoundly changes the female career choice, social position, and life trajectory, women’s education has also produced revolutionary effects to American society. Although the feminist movement and all sectors of society have effect on the development of women’s higher education, but so far, no matter in the education sector itself, or in the education field besides, women are not fully enjoy the equal status with men. This thesis is based on the feminism perspective; try to analysis the development of American women’s higher education, in order to give us some enlightenment.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the development course of the feminist movement and the theory.The second chapter, from the specific activities and the measures of the government departments, analyses the relationship between American feminist movement and the women’s higher education development.The third chapter separately from the education purpose, enrollment, education contents and employment, try to analysis how the feminist movement impact the development of women’s higher education.The fourth chapter is divided into two parts. The first part evaluates the American women’s higher education. And the second part summarizes the women’s higher education development and shows the enlightenment to Chinese women’s higher education.From the perspective of the feminist movement development, analysis and study the development of women’s higher education, summarizes the achievements of women’s higher education in America, and concludes that the social progress and national development is inseparable from the participation of women, inseparable from the government support, inseparable from the legal protection, and also inseparable from the feminist movement and actively cooperation. American feminist movement and women’s higher education is a kind of mutual promoting symbiotic, interdependent relationship. In the development of American women’s higher education encountered difficulties, and has also made the achievement. Generally speaking, the development of American women’s higher education is successful, and is worth to learn for China and around the world.
