The rapid changing society and the multiple orientation values have caused the primaryand secondary schools students facing an increasingly complex environment of. Under such asocial background, primary and secondary school psychological health education has becomea vital issue in worldwide education field. As for China, the national Ministry of Educationissued Some suggestions on strengthening psychological health education for primary andsecondary school students in1999, and in2002, Primary and middle school mental healtheducation guidelines was issued, which further acknowledged the position of thepsychological health education in our country’s school education. With the comprehensivedevelopment of quality-oriented education and the gradual deepening research of Primaryand middle school mental health education guidelines, Primary and secondary psychologicalhealth education has become an important way of achieving students’ psychological healthgrowth, cultivating students’ good psychological quality and stimulating the students’ internalpotential.Yantai city is a place where psychological health education was carried out relativelyearly in China. The emphasis from education decision-making departments and measurestaken by them have made the psychological health education of Yantai relatively mature. Thisstudy takes Yantai for example and hopes to achieve the following aims based on the sortingand analyzing of domestic and foreign relevant research by means of questionnaire survey,etc.: to summarize the experiences and achievements of psychological health education inYantai primary and middle schools; to confirm systematically the existing problems, and thento carry on further nichetargeting countermeasures research.The first part of the paper is introduction, which deals mainly with the researchbackground, the purpose, significance and research methods, etc.The second part is research review, which mainly sort and analyze domestic and foreignrelevant research. By sorting the foreign research reviews from the aspects of valueorientation, education goal, education mode and education approaches and by sortingdomestic research reviews from the aspects of education model and curriculum research, sucha conclusion is reached that the development trend of the psychological health education inprimary and middle schools at home and abroad is: the value of the teachers, the emphasis on development and the reflection of differences.The third part is the present situation investigation, which surveyed120primary andmiddle schools in Yantai by questionnaire, aiming to reflect objectively the basic situationand the existing problems of the psychological health education in Yantai primary and middleschools.The fourth part is about the existing problems. Based on the investigation of presentsituation, problems have been found in the psychological health education in Yantai primaryand middle schools, such as the unbalanced urban and rural development, nonstandardcurriculum implementation, lack of teachers, etc.The fifth part is the countermeasures. Based on the investigation of present situation andproblems found through the sorting, nichetargeting countermeasures and suggestions havebeen offered through the changed awareness and basic approach.The sixth part is the conclusion. Primary and middle school psychological healtheducation is an important part of school education and is an important approach to realizestudents’ psychological development, to provide student with psychological quality and tostimulate the students’ internal potential. To achieve the comprehensive development ofstudents’ quality goal, we must follow the students’ psychological development law by meansof school psychological health education.
