University ideological and political education is one of the key factors to the university students’growth and capacity, and its effectiveness is of crucial importance. Therefore, studying how to improve the effectiveness of university ideological and political education is the task that all the educators are faced with. Under this condition, a series of theories and methods related to it have appeared and have played an increasingly important role. To promote the further study of the effectiveness of university ideological and political education, this thesis, based on Pestalozzi’s education theories and combining the features of university ideological and political education, analyzes the dialectical relationship between the education of "love" and "theory" and discusses the methods to advance the effectiveness of university ideological and political education.This thesis is entitled "The Education of Love and Theory:On the Inspiration of Pestalozzi’s Love Theory to University Ideological and Political Education" and it is divided into four chapters:Chapter One mainly introduces Pestalozzi and his main educational theories. This chapter emphasizes that love theory is his core theory and this theory has profound theoretical significance and practical value. The first chapter is a case study on Pestalozzi’s education theories, and is the beginning of the further study. Chapter Two deals with China’s university ideological and political education, the importance of theory education and its content. It mainly emphasizes that theory education is the theoretical basis and essential carrier of ideological and political education. The second chapter turns to the main topic—university ideological and political education and lays a foundation for the following research. Chapter Three focuses on the way of advancing theory education through "love" from three angles—necessity, feasibility and effectivity. By blending Pestalozzi’s love theory with university ideological and political education, this chapter brings the discussion to the very center of the topic. Chapter Four mainly analyzes the dialectical relationship between "love" and "theory" and points out that we can create a new area to advance the work of university ideological and political education through the combination of love and theory and their harmonious development. Based on the integrated research, the last chapter sublimates the contentions and is the leitmotif of the thesis. Through analysis and study, this thesis answers the question "How to advance the effectiveness of university ideological and political education" in hope of bringing about some positive effects.
