The year of2011is the start of the12th Five-Year Plan and the NationalBody-Building Plan. Senior citizens, as a special group, have their unique demands forphysical activities. In other words, to build harmonious society, attentions should be paidto the group of seniors, because the sports activities contribute to the senior citizens’passions and loves with life. In addition, national tradition sport is not only the importantconstitute of Chinese culture but also the source of new physical activities. Consequently,launch of the national tradition sports is beneficial to body building, culture development,and progress of socialist ethics and culture. In this paper, based upon the interview withSuzhou community administrators and senior citizens, the author draws the conclusionbelow and corresponding strategy of the aged’ current physical activity conditions throughusing statistical method, field observation, literature material law, interview, questionnairesurvey procedure, and so on.The research shows that:First, cognitive motivation. The senior citizen normally have positive attitude towardsphysical activities, acknowledging that sports improve their physical health and cultivatemoral character. Thus, the elderly demand more sport activities than other groups.Second, physical activity. Most of the senior citizens have preference for sports thatrequire less energy, like jogging. Therefore, the aged have fewer needs for fields andequipments.Third, field equipment. Restricted by shortage of site or equipment, these citizenshave to exercise in their neighborhoods or community rather than in the standardgymnasium.Fourth, time. These citizens usually lack scientific guides and instructions in sporttime and intensity. Fifth, staff. The number of administrators and staff is obviously less than the numberof current manning. Furthermore, most of the employees lack professional sportknowledge and fail to offer correct instructions. Besides, community organizations for theelderly are also insufficient in systematic and professional knowledge supply.As a result, this paper proposes solutions below to solve problems above.In the first, to strengthen sports administration in community.Secondly, to intensify propaganda of the traditional sports.Thirdly, to raise more management fund.Fourthly, to maintain sports facility.Lastly, to provide training to the staff.
