The Population flow contributes to achieving industrialization, urbanization and modernization. Since the mid-1980s, the Population flow of China began to increase dramatically. The deepest reasons of the appearance and increase of the population flow are the different employment opportunities between urban and rural areas, and different income between regions and so on. The Northwest region is the developing region, mobile population rapid growth, a fragile ecological environment and ethnic minority areas of China. Reasonable and orderly flow of population can promote the free flow of factors of production between the regional, and increase the overall regional economic welfare. The research on economic welfare effects of the population flow in northwest of china push forward the western development and continue to narrow the development gap of east and west of china.The first part of the article of the introduction. this paper expounds the background and significance of the topic, the domestic and foreign relevant theory were reviewed in this article, we determine the research ideas and research methods. The second part of the article defined the concept of the population flow and economic welfare. At the same time. there is a theoretical analysis on the economic welfare effect of the population flow. The third part of the article analyzes the population flow in northwest area of china. And this part summarizes the overall characteristics of the population flow in northwest area of china. Then the article empirically analyzes the economic welfare effects of the northwest Inter-provincial flow based on2005National1%Population Sample Survey data. Finally, according to the empirical analysis concluded some suggestions.
