In the age of the lifelong learning, more and more people are anxious for entering school in different ages. Recognition of competencies that people have acquired through non-formal and informal learning focuses directly on learning outcomes and also provides a stepping stone to further formal education or qualifications that have value in the labor market, so it is increasingly seen as a way of improving lifelong and life wide learning.Because of European Integration, a tool which can promote mobility in the Labour and Education Market between European countries is urgently needed. Many European countries are emphasizing the importance of making visible and valuing learning that takes place outside formal education and training institutions. Recognition of prior learning becoming a priority for European education policies in the last decade. Some countries already have well-established systems for recognition of prior learning. Others have recently introduced appropriate measures, or are in the process of doing so.This research focus on the implementation of recognition of prior learning in Europe. Firstly, it analyzes the background factors of recognition of prior learning. Secondly, it describes current practice in Europe, including practitioners, procedures, and assessment methods of recognition of prior learning. Last, it discusses the experiences that we should learn from.
