European Union (EU) has integrated validation of adult informal and non-formal learning outcomes in future strategy to meet the challenge from economic crisis, changes in population as well as the severe employment situation. This study focused on the policies on validation of adult informal and non-formal learning outcomes in European Union, and aimed to provide reference for education and training policies in China.This paper includes five chapters. It begins with a picture of the policy background, and then it displays the main content of the policies on validation of adult informal and non-formal learning outcomes as well as the policy implementation in Europe. According to the case study and data from the member states, it can be concluded that the EU policies on validation of adult learning outcomes has played a significant role in promoting the development of lifelong learning, citizen quality as well as employment in Europe.This paper mainly adopts documentary method and comparative method to comb and analyze the EU policies on validation of adult informal and non-formal learning outcomes, making a comparison between member states in EU. Moreover, case study is also used to give a deep analysis of policy implementation.Lessons learned from EU policies suggest that China should promote mechanism for validation of adult informal and non-formal learning outcomes, establish validation standards as well as quality assurance.
