The application of network and virtual reality technology in education has broken people’s limitation of acquaintance for learning environment. The 3D virtual reality technology can create learning conditions for situational teaching and learning, virtual experiment, experiential learning, training seminars and so on,arid effectively overcome problems such as the insufficiency of learning situation, the difficulty of developing study initiative and the lack of learning interaction. Nowadays,SecondLife is one of the most popular three-dimensional network platforms and it is known as the "virtual world" and "second life" for its highly realistic simulation.Based on SecondLife virtual platform,this paper aims at constructing learning environment, carrying out experiential learning activities and exploring its potential for supporting experiential learning.At first, the characteristics of SecondLife and its advantages in developing experiential learning are analyzed. Then, the design of 3D experiential learning environments is proposed according to the elements of learning environment and the characteristics of SecondLife. Next, by showing the case of librarian’s pre-service learning environment and with the help of 3D modeling and program, the elements of learning environment are achieved. At last, the platform is tested and verified.Study suggests that SecondLife virtual learning environment, with a high degree of reality simulation, learners participate in the learning experience actively; learners willing to share, interact positively; learners feel much more real situation experience and can actively reflect on their learning behaviors.
