Research On Functions And Influencing Factors Of University Faculty

Some colleges and universities in China have been carrying out the reformation of faculty as a significant measure to promote the internal management system of college. The Faculty reformation has accumulated valuable experience, but there are a number of issues, the very essential point of which is the dim relationship among the schools, faculties and colleges needs to be rationalized, and the function of Faculty is not clear In all, clarify the function of Faculty and the influencing factors of it to determine the direction can help improve the University Facu]ty development.This paper is based on the System theory, Academic productivity theory and Academic organization theory to study the function and influence factors of the University Faculty. Domestic environment as the most external systems, by understanding the status of the college management system, taking the university internal management model with Chinese characteristics into account, the paper selects first-class foreign universities to analyze their Faculty system, whose development patterns sui ts current stage of Chinese universities, such like Oxford University and the University of Manchester. This paper tries to combine the foreign experience with actual situation in China to clarify functional orientation of Faculty. After the functional orientation, the author picks the faculty of Zhejiang University as object from the ideas and organizational structure perspectives, with reference to the relevant research report, through questionnaires and interviews to conduct the correlation analysis and obtain the conclusion that the most crucial factor is the ideological positioning and school level. The paper provides several policy suggestions to improve the development of the University Faculty.
