Conflict between teachers and students is an unavoidably common problem in school education practice. The research to the problem of the conflict between teachers and students began in the1990s in our country. Abundant achievements have been made in the research during this20years, but some questions still exists in this research area. Even so, the study to the research of conflict between teachers and students, which includes systematic classification, analysation and reflection is rare. If the research to the problem of conflict between teachers and students wants to get further deepening and a breakthrough, it is necessary to reflect on its own.The research to the problem of the conflict between teachers and students in our country has experienced four stages:the embryo stage, the preliminary stage, the rapid development stage and the peak stage. Teachers from middle school launched the study at the embryo research stage, and then there were more and more other researchers joined in the research, such as university teachers, graduate students and professional researchers.The current research to the problem of the conflict between teachers and students has got the following conclusions:First, most of the researchers agree with the broad definition of the conflict between teachers and students. Second, the perspective of multi-discipline has primarily been used to explore the underlying reasons of the conflict between teachers and students. Third, solutions to the problems of the conflict between teachers and students have been put forward mostly from the theoretical level. Fourth, most of the researchers already accept that the conflict between teachers and students may bring about positive influence or function.However, current research to the problem of the conflict between teachers and students still has many problems as following:First, the research from single-discipline angle is not further enough and from multi-discipline angle is immature. Moreover the research from the perspective of pedagogy is very inadequate. Second, there is contradiction between the theoretical definition to the conflict between teachers and students and the practical application of that definition. Cause analysis is not enough to guide the countermeasure alternative. The countermeasures content has relatively strong contemplative property. The analysis to the function of the conflict between teachers and students put too much emphasize on the pros and cons of statical value judgment. Third, the phenomenon that the research has been repeated in low level is common. Fourth, researchers who can link theory with practice when doing the research are obviously in shortage.Allowing for the above current existing problems, the future development of the research to the problem of conflict between teachers and students should pay much attention to the following eight aspects:First, the perspective of pedagogy should be focused on the research to the problem of conflict between teachers and students. Second, try to explore the research from multi-discipline perspective on condition that the researches from single-discipline perspective have been further improved and deepened. Third, the viewpoint that conflict is a process should be brought to the research. Fourth, to strengthen the research of systematic strategies that embodies the complicated way of thinking. And pay more attention to the students’conduct when dealing with the problem of conflict between teachers and students. Fifth, to describe the influence of the conflict between teachers and students, combining with realistic situation. Sixth, to strengthen the use of qualitative research methods in the research to the problem of conflict between teachers and students. Seventh, calling for more and more middle school teachers, education administrators, professional researchers and the others concerned to participate together in the research. Eighth, be sure to strengthen the standardization and preciseness of academic research of the problem.
