Variant teaching is not new to math teachers, we often use it in the process of teaching in class. However, there are a lot of teachers who failed to understand variant teaching roundly. They may simply believe that a variant teaching is the teaching concept that one problem has many ways of solutions and has many changes. But they know little about how to set up a situation for variant and to inspire students to do variant by themselves. They usually follow their own feelings, which would not grasp the level of teaching accurately. Instead, they give students more burden and pressure.In traditional research, the variant teaching was divided into conceptual variants and procedural variants. The article is based on the new curriculum standards, combined with the characters of high school students and laws of their physical and mental development. After more than six months’practical research, the author reclassified the high school mathematical knowledge and summarized a conclusion that it is practicable in mathematical teaching of high school.The subject mainly through the literature review method and practice methodology to study the following contents:(1) To analyze the similarities and differences in Chinese and foreign teaching.(2) To summarize the variant and the variant concept of teaching, to put forward own understanding of variant teaching, and to find out the rules of variant teaching, as well as the theoretical guidance and principles on the basis of existing studies.(3) To reflect on the current situations of variant teaching in high school, and to reclassify the mathematical knowledge and do the practice research according to the new curriculum standards and the cognitive features of high school students, and to present the results of the reflection at last.(4) To give several suggestions on the variant teaching in high school, and to predict the possible development trends of the future variant teaching.Variant teaching enables students to participate in activities actively in class. It also can give the opportunities to develop the imagination and creativity of students. Furthermore, variant teaching is the important guarantee to improve the teaching efficiency.
