Lao Zi’s Thoughts On Chinese Education

Lao zi is an important philosopher in the Chinese culture history, and is regarded as the founder of Taoism. The only book which he wrote is "Dao De Jing" and has left us precious spiritual wealth. Few people mention the Chinese education thought about Lao zi. According to historical records, Lao zi also had Chinese teaching experience. So, the "Dao De Jing" contains Chinese education wisdom, and especially the aspects of the relationship between "character" and "dao" and "teaching without language" bring the great enlightenment to the modern Chinese education. The article which uses the method of consulting literature materials reviews summarizes and researches the Chinese education thought of Lao zi. The first part states the background of Lao zi’s education thought from the origin of thoughts and practice in detail, and lays the foundation on the latter parts. The second part discusses the Chinese of Lao zi ontology view. From the view of relation between the word and the meaning and negative literal, it explains the connotation of "dao" and the contradiction between "dao" and language. Because of the limitations of language, Lao zi argued "no saying" and negated characters. But he also used the language creatively, left five thousand words "Dao De Jing ".The third part discusses the Lao zi’s thought on Chinese education, such as the teaching goal on "dao", the teaching methods about "teaching with no language", with "importance of teacher" as the core of the teacher thoughts.The fourth part discusses the unique article paradigm of Lao zi’s "Dao De Jing" from the article contained structure and language and the value orientation contained morality and aesthetic. It has far influence on later writing.This article which based on the "big Chinese" perspective discusses the Chinese education thoughts on Lao zi. It fills in Chinese education thoughts of the Lao zi blank and can give modern Chinese education problems to find new solutions, deepen the reform of Chinese education and promote the development and progress of Chinese education.
