Foreign language teaching profession is now attracting more and more attention and investment from Chinese government under current global context, especially in the east and middle China. However, English teaching still encounters various problems for remote minority group regions especially Zang Minority area. Many students cannot attend English class until their middle schooling, thus leaving extremely important stress for middle school English teachers there. The under-developed economy in Gansu region, especially in southern Zang Minority group area, is not capable of supporting focus and investment in education, not to mention English schooling and profession development of middle school English teachers. Considering such, this research, taking middle school teachers group in Hezuo city of Gansu Province as study object, with tools of questionnaires, interviews and on-site class observations, aims to conduct analysis of middle school English teaching development in the object city and try to raise proposals to some of issues found.This research consists of five chapters.Chapter1:IntroductionFrom the perspective of profession development for English teachers, this chapter briefly illustrates source and purpose of this research and summarizes previous researching results of this topic. It also introduces to readers key contents and objectives of this research, making it clear difficulties and opportunities on this subject.Chapter2:Outline of Profession Development of Middle School English Teachers It provides theoretical perspective of study for English teaching development and the overview of English education which also serves as theoretical basis for sketching out professional competence structure of English educators.Chapter3:Research on Status QuoIn order to be more fully and truly in the reflection of the object city’s middle school English education status quo, the author conducted series of study including questionnaires, interview and class attending etc. English teachers from four of middle schools in the object city were involved as study pool. Summary and data were then drawn from all the questionnaires, interviews and randomly selected class observation.Chapter4:Issues Analysis and ProposalsIssues are analyzed and listed from the different perspectives of government policies, social background, students and teachers. Likewise, resolution proposals are raised for government, schools and teachers.Chapter5:Concluding RemarksIt sums up personal views on the subject through this research. Meanwhile, limitations and follow-up opportunities are pointed out for future reference.
