With our country’s popularization of Higher Education, our country’s higher education reform and development is at a critical stage. Social development’s requirements for senior innovative talents and advanced knowledge innovation continue to improve; with talent as the core of the increasing international competition, the construction of first-class universities and disciplines appears more important and pressing.In order to accomplish this mission, we must have a large number of university presidents who are dedicated with unique concept and skilled in running universities to organize and lead the university. Napoleon once said of a famous saying:" a lion led a flock of sheep can defeat a sheep led by a lion." Napoleon’s sentence statements the importance of the outstanding leader’s organization for success. University Organization versa, university presidents are very important not only for the university but also for a country and a nation. As the president of the university must have independent education idea, concepts for managing university and innovation thinking. Because ideas can often change the course of history, so only the new idea of running a university can bring a university into a brand-new era. Therefore, university presidents must become educationists.Universities’transition and development continue to increase requirements for university principals in 21st century; university presidents become the motive power of our country’s university innovation and development; which is also the inevitable requirement for Chinese University into world-class universities. Due to the role of the university president already is increasingly outstanding, the role of university president attract more people’s attention, and related researches has gradually become hot topics in academic circles. This article mainly researches the realistic dilemma and the solving strategies of university presidents in China to be educationists; the research in theory and in practice has certain exploration. In order to make the study have universal significance, this research insists the principle of combining history and reality, theory and practice in research method. This paper is divided into four parts:the first part is the introduction, which statements the issues related to this theme, such as research background, research value, research perspective, research methods. The second part mainly analyses and elaborates the necessity of university presidents in our county to be educationists from several aspects such as the essence of University, university development, first-class university formation and social public expectation. The third part mainly analyses and summarizes the restrict factors of our modern university presidents to be educators such as the institutional factors and the university presidents themselves from the current situation of university presidents in China and related existing problems of the university systems. The fourth part mainly aims at the problems put forward in the third part of this dissertation, and proposes some strategies to make China’s university presidents to be educationists from reforming of university system and strengthening university principals’ self-quality two aspects with combining our universities’reality and related actual policies.
