Education is the basic policy of a nation in the long run. The level of education isnot only the embodiment of a nation’s culture in nature, but also the basic symbol ofintegrated strength of the nation. Education plays an important part in individualdevelopment in his whole life. Moreover, teachers, as the organizers andimplementers of educational and teaching activities, critically influence the effect ofeducation implementing. Preschool education is an important part in fundamentaleducation; it has great significance in individual development. In the course ofpreschool education, preschool teachers play a key role as the initiators of young kids’intelligence and the builders of their characters and behaviors. For a very long time,due to the influence of social conventions and females’ characteristics, such astenderness, conscientiousness, and etc., female teachers are the main stream in thegroup of kindergarten teachers. With the development of the society and the updatingof education concepts, male teachers gradually become the new emerging forces . Theintervention of male preschool teachers has infused new blood into preschooleducation profession, thus could satisfy children’s need in good personality and thedevelopment of health psychology.This study firstly put forward the issue–the professional development ofmale teachers in preschool, and state the related literature review concisely in theintroduction, illustrating the aim and significance of the study, analyzing and raisingthe related definition of the professional development of male teachers in preschool aswell as the great significance of male teachers for preschool. Based on the above, thewriter interviews 12 male preschool teachers coming from 6 kindergartens in Jinanwith case interview method and questionnaire method. The following are the issuesconcerned in the interview: 1.Male preschool teachers’ professional identity and its influencing factors;2.Male preschool teachers’ status quo in kindergarten of Jinan, based on the Malepreschool teachers’ status quo, the writer further analyzes the reasons for the shortageof male preschool teachers in Jinan, furthermore, the writer examines the reformpolicy for promote the professional development of male preschool teachers.The main conclusions of this thesis are as follows:1.According to the interview, nowadays, there are many negative phenomenain the aspect of male preschool teachers, such as the shortage of male teachers, hardwork, inactive attitude towards work, and etc..2.According to the questionnaire, most male students don’t want to choosepreschool education as their major mainly because of the great pressure from society,the meager salary, job unsteadiness, and etc.. Meanwhile, according to the results ofthe investigation, the writer also draws out other reasons which lead to the shortage ofmale preschool teachers, such as the traditional social concepts of gender role, socialand family pressure caused by low economic treatment,and troubles in daily work.3.In order to promote the professional development of male preschool teachers,the writers suggests: firstly, the society should create a better large environment formale teachers, understand and support male teachers’ profession, raise up their salary,perfect teacher training system; secondly, kindergartens should set up developmentscaffold for male teachers, create harmonious humanistic and physical environment,change personnel system, try to adopt more humanized management in teaching,optimize kindergarten curriculum, develop related curriculum for male teachers,optimize human and physical resource deployment; lastly, male preschool teachersthemselves should study further, try to improve their professionalism, change theconcepts of job-hunting, have correct attitude, set the goal of life study, make full useof their own advantages, plan their professional career reasonably.
