This study fully probes into consumer behaviour and the characteristics of educationconsumption of rural residents in Enshi Autonomous Prefecture by the way ofconsumption theory and the quantitative and qualitative analysis method in order toobtain meaningful research results for developing a theoretical and policy basis for thestart of rural household consumption, especially consumption of Education in EnshiAutonomous Prefecture. Consumption is one of the troika to promote economic growth,it is the leading factor of the national economy cycle. The aim of production is forconsumption, only expanding the consumption can stimulate sustained economicgrowth. Due to the imbalance of China’s economic development, the gap between eastand west, the difficulty of starting domestic demands mainly focuses in the backwardareas of Midwest, especially the majority ethnic areas of Midwest. Education consumeruncertainty is an important aspect of lack of confidence in household consumption inrural minority areas. National education is an important part of China’s socialisteducation, the sustained, rapid and healthy development of national education relates tothe success or failure of education in China.Education is the base of the livelihood of the people. In the current society, education isstill the most effective way to change the social status of Chinese people. In a sense,education has become the largest livelihood issues. Educational reform anddevelopment not only concerns the future of the state and nation, but also the vitalinterests of each family and student. The nation must adhere to the principle of givingpriority to developing education, and strive to provide a strong intellectual support fornational economic and social development. In today’s world, knowledge becomes thedecisive factor to enhance the comprehensive national strength and internationalcompetitiveness, human resources are the strategic resources for promoting economicand social development, personnel training and reserves become important means tooccupy the commanding heights in the competition and cooperation of the world. Chinais a populous country, education promotion is directly related to improving the qualityof national revitalization. Only first-class education can built first-class national strengthand then can build a great country. Thus, the root of the problem is to change thebackward situation of ethnic regional education, to accumulate energy and providesupports for the subsequent development as soon as possible, and therefore guiding theeducational concept of consumption of the minority areas and developing nationaleducation have very important significances.This study firstly starts from the current status of ethnic education consumption of ruralhouseholds in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, then goes to study theirconsumption patterns and their spending rate on education, and compare ruralhousehold consumption and education consumption in Enshi Autonomous Prefectureboth in time and space, and thus obtains the conclusions that the rural householdconsumption in Enshi Autonomous Prefecture is low and the consumption structure isirrational. On this basis, the author analyses the factors restricting the rural education consumption, and mainly carries out a detailed analysis and discussion in terms ofhousehold income, government policies, family structure and parent characteristics.Finally, the author analyses the way to guide education consumption of rural householdsin Enshi Autonomous Prefecture against the previous constraints. In conclusion, thisarticle discusses the way to explore efforts to improve the economic environment of therural areas of Enshi Autonomous Prefecture, to guide farmers to update the concept ofconsumption, to create a good social and human environment, to establish a soundsocial security system, to transform the government functions and strive to do publicservice. The ultimate aim is to correctly guide the education consumer demand of thenational rural households, promote the healthy and stable development of education inthe ethnic areas, to pull the overall national consumption needs, expand domesticdemand from the macro.
