In knowledge economy today, buliding an innovative country rich in human resources has become the consensus of the whole party and society. Under this kind of background, the study and research of Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education, in new perspectives according to the new requirements of socialist modernization, has a particularly important practical significance in tapping its potential value, learning from the useful experiences and avaluable conclusions and guiding the reform and development of the education cause nowadays.In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the thesis is divided into f chapters.The first chapter focuses primarily on elaborating the scientific connotation and disquisitive significance of Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education. It first discusses the scientific connotation of "priority","education first","Thought of Giving Priority to Education" and "Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Educatio" and other related concepts, and then analyzes the disquisitiving significance of Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education.The second chapter mainly introduces the forming conditions and basis of Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education. It sorts out the forming conditions maily through objective and subjective dimensions, and demonstrates the forming basis in three aspects of the theoretical basis, practical basis and foreign reference.The third chapter highlights the main contents of the Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education. It summarizes the contents from the two aspects of strategy and tactics. Analysing from the macroscopic angle of strategy, Deng’s Thought includes the priority setting of three facing policy, the priority cultivating of target of talents with ideals and morals and culture and discipline, the priority knowing of science and technology being the first productive and the priority constructing of education legalization. Analysing from the microscopic angle of tactics, Deng’s Thought includes, deepening the reform of the education system, increasing the investment in education, improving the economic treatment and social status of teachers, strengthening the teacher ranks.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the theoretical contribution of Deng Xiaoping’s Thought of Giving Top Priority to Education and its realistic enlightenment to Chinese contemporary education reform and development.
