In the philosophers before Marx, the thought of world history as a kind ofconsciousness have been awakened. However, due to historical view of becongenitally deficient, these ideas have obvious defects in theory, are never trulyreveal the true colors of world history. Marx was acutely aware of this, and focusedon criticizing the Hegel’s theory of world history, thus transcended the old worldhistory thought and created a new theory of world history. Marx’s theory of worldhistory to be able to transcend the past all the old world history theory, the key liesin a new theory fulcrum, namely the materialist conception of history. Similarly, inthe creation of historical materialism, the thought of world history also plays a veryimportant role, then, the two in the later development has shown the same way. Atthe same time, in the development process of Marx’s theory of world history, thetheory itself shows its nature of practice, namely dual logical evolution from thetheory of history to the historical materialism and from the thought-form to actualpractice. According to Marx’s theory of world history research, combined with thepractice of development in today’s world, we can draw three conclusions: first, thetheory of world history is a important cornerstone of human’s free and overalldevelopment; second, theory of world history is the guideline of the Communistmovement of the time; third, theory of world history is a necessary dimension ofunderstanding socialism with Chinese characteristics. The article is divided into four parts: the first part introduces Hegel’s the theoryof world history; the second part examines Marx’s theory of world history on thebasis of the founding of historical materialism; the third part expounds the logicaldevelopment process of Marx’s theory of world history from theorical and practicalperspective; the last part, based on domestic and international reality, explains itscontemporary values of Marx’s theory of world history.
