On Promotion Of The National Spirit In Disaster Relief

National spirit of China was, is, and will be the spiritual treasure of the Chinese, which stimulates her people to fight and advance ceaselessly. On the occasion of the65th anniversary of the War Against Japan’s Aggression on September3,2010, President Hu Jintao pointed out "It has been65years since we won the war, nevertheless, the great national spirit we displayed at that time remains to be force spurring us up to action. Exposed to new situation and new mission, we are to promote the great national spirit in the party as well as in society as a whole. Especially, we will guide the youth to remember the history, cherish the peace and embrace the future in order to further bond the strength of the nation, build socialism with Chinese characteristic with one heart, and strive unswervingly to build a harmonious world.From the view point of patriotism and ideological and political education, This paper examines and eulogizes the formation and development of the national spirit----traditional culture(the source of national spirit);one hundred years of war against aggression(the illustration of national spirit);revolution and construction(the enrichment of national spirit);reform and opening up(the promotion of national spirit).This paper has built up on the basis of the moving stories in which our party, government and army has organized non-governmental sectors to relieve disasters, examined the formation and development of the national spirit, highlighted such values of national spirit of disaster relief in modern China with fervent political spirit as political concentration, economic impetus, cultural cohesion and moral power.This paper tries to transcend the empiricalism to reach the highness of rationalism. I have gained some rational views after some researching and theory-analyzing:aiming to promote the national spirit of China, we must integrate it with the advantages of system, progress of overall national strength, improvement of administration on the one hand and with achievement of political civilization and booming of modern technological know-how on the other.Focused on what kind of national spirit we should exhibit in disaster relief, this paper sums up basic content of the spirit as the followings:the philanthropy of people foremost, care for lives; antagonism of fighting bravely in midst of dangers; mutual-assistance of overcoming hardship with one mind; altruism and sense of sacrifice; optimism of braving the future with persistence.Besides the necessary humane conditions, promotion of national spirit in disaster relief entails certain material and additional ones. This paper emphasizes the completeness of the safeguards system:uniform, coordinate and highly efficient chain of command; communication system with clear dispatch,being safe and unblocked and medical care rescue system with focus on people, combination of the efforts of specialists and the masses; logistics system that is responsive, standard; well-guided,multi-channel pacifying measures.Highlights of this paper lie in--disclosing the internal relations of disaster relief and national spirit of China, rendering benign reference to modern ideological and political education. Calamity has no mercy, but humans do. Abhorrent as it is, natural disaster provides us with an opportunity to relive the flesh-and-blood relationship between the party and the people, the government and the mass, the army and the civilian, which has appeared in the glorious revolutionary days, as well as an opportunity to promote the national spirit education among the general republic.
