Micro Power Perspective Causes And The Government's Response To Internet Rumors Of Subjectivity

It is a truth universally acknowledged that rumors come with the existence of human languages. However, as an old form of discourse, rumors ranges greatly in accordance with the changes of society. Especially in the advent of the Internet, a brand new type of rumor, network rumor, steps on the stage with an appearance of new technology. Owing to the media differentiation between the network rumor and traditional rumor, the research emphasis on the network rumor has to be put on the distinguishing features of net media rather than on the discourse itself. Considered as a public domain, Internet suggests a great number of differences from the actual world. What influences resulting from these differences will show up? Which kind of influences will insert to the rumor discourse?Firstly, a theory has been chosen as a basic of this research which is Micro Power Theory. This theoretic fundamental varies from the traditional resorts of treating social psychological theories as research basis in order to narrow the study angel and field. Secondly, this dissertation develops from the special structure of the network forums and the Internet public domains so that the distinguishing principles of rumor communication and influences can be figured out. Moreover, the Micro Power Theory will insert positive effects on presenting the relation of discourse subjects hiding under the rumors. Regarding to the structure, this thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter reviews the brief history of rumor research both at home and abroad. Then it introduces the initiation and significance of this research. The second chapter begins with the definitions of rumor and then defines what network rumor is theoretically. Subsequently, in the chapter two, there is a detailed and comprehensive introduce of Micro Power Theory including the elementary conceptions and how these conceptions work. After making the theoretic foundation, in the third chapter, case study is drawn from the Internet into the research. By studying the rumors involved in this real case, a thorough and exhaustive review will be made with the aim at analyzing the cause of Internet rumor. Last in the chapter four, three various principles in how to react to the Internet rumor is supposed for the governments and authoritiesIn the end, a brief conclusion of whole research is made to review the researching methods and profound significances as well as some shortages relating to the objective reasons. On the whole this research is subject to a qualitative analysis and case study.
