Abstract/Summary:
Mao Zedong’s philosophy by its very nature refers to dynamic and practical materialism. And the subjective initiative which is the most distinctive and essential thought plays a very important role in the whole system of Mao Zedong’s philosophy. Since it came into being, Mao Zedong’s philosophy has exerted a significant influence on Chinese revolutionary practice and socialist construction. The subjective initiative is also known as the conscious dynamic initiative. Consciousness lies in our minds and it can only be expressed by means of language and recorded by writing. In addition, it doesn’t make direct impact on objective matters. Though pure consciousness can bring changes to objective matters, in practice, consciousness always acts as a guidance helping people make use of one substance to act on another. In this way specific morphological changes can take place. It is the subjective initiative that makes a difference.According to the objective social reality of modern China, Mao Zedong did large numbers of researches on Chinese traditional philosophy and modern Western philosophy through which he critically assimilated the reasonable elements and developed the ideology of Marxism so as to make a scientific theory of subjective initiative. Mao Zedong’s subjective initiative theory continuously develops Marxism and plays a vital part for people putting forward Deng Xiaoping Theory and thoughts of "Three Represents" and scientific outlook on development. This paper aims at fully and correctly grasping the essence of theory of subjective initiative via reviewing the formation process of this theory.
