Abstract/Summary:
Mao Zedong who was born in the 19th century and shining in the 20th century was an unprecedented great figure in history. Through his magnificent spirit and excellent governance strategies, he completed his great achievements. After reflecting on his achievements, the reasons for his success can be attributed to two aspects. The one was the promoting from the historical necessity; and the other was the correspondence between his potential great power and opportunities from historical contingency. Such potential great power, that is, the subjective factors of a great man, was not only the reasons why the great man is so great, but also the manifestation of how great the great man is. Mao Zedong had four subjective factors as follows: the lofty aspirations of rescuing the nation from peril and restoring Chinese independence; the profound knowledge which made him an erudite and informed strategy deviser and decision maker; the noble moral of loving the people and serving the people; the charismatic world vision and the courage of trying and practicing, When we summarizing and enlightening Mao's subjective factors for his success ,we can give ourselves a spiritual baptism and an ideological inspiration. As in this process, we can retrospect his historical footsteps, reproduce the background of the times, restore true face of history, and relive the glorious moments of Mao Zedong.Generally, there are two angles on the analysis of the reasons for Mao's success in academia. The first angle makes its analysis start on Mao himself to deliberate the subjective factors which access him to the success. The second one starts from Mao's era to analyze the necessary objective conditions which make him successful. In my view, a person's success is a dynamic process. The success results from the interaction between the person's subjective factors and the objective conditions, and the correspondence the two reach. It is safe to say that the subjective factors which Mao Zedong had can also be owned by the contemporary people with lofty ideals. However, it is Mao Zedong who achieved the greatest success. And the reason why it is Mao obtained the success, in my opinion, is that compared to others, the interaction between his subjective factors and the objective conditions in Mao's life process is comparatively easier to reach a fit or a higher level fit, which enabled Mao Zedong to obtain a higher rate of success than his contemporaries'.According to this train of thought, I divide Mao Zedong's subjective factors of success to four aspects as follows: ambition, knowledge, morality, temperament. Correspondingly, my thesis is divided into four parts, and there are four sections in each part. The first section introduces the interpretation and value of each subjective factor. The second section of each part introduces the Chinese tradition of emphasis on those four subjective factors. The third section elaborates the calling from the time of Mao Zedong's subjective factors. The fourth section analyzes how Mao's subjective element fits with the times both through static perspective and dynamic perspective. Static analysis compares Mao's subjective factors to the traditional culture and to his contemporaries', thus, the more easiness that MaoZedong's subjective factors reached fit with the time than the culture'and his contemporaries'is highlighted through comparing. Dynamic analysis explains that Mao's subjective factors were getting more and more fit with the times in every new stages of his life process.
