Chinese is an important minority in Canada, their performance in the41stfederalelection which was held on May2,2011got a lot of attention. Focusing on politicalparticipation performance of Chinese Canadians in the2011election, this paper tries toevaluate the main pros and cons and analyses the reasons of their participation in politics.The main part of this paper is divided into three chapters, the first chapter reviews thehistory of the Chinese Canadians’ participation in politics, focuses on the performance of theChinese Canadian in the2011election and explores the significance of their politicalparticipation. The second chapter analyses detailed reasons for their success in politicalparticipation from two aspects including the Chinese society in Canada and the favorableenvironment at home and abroad. The last chapter explores the existing problems and thereasons, and looks forward to the prospect of Chinese Canadian political participation.Looking to the future of Chinese Canadian participation in politics, the ChineseCanadian and the community is getting mature gradually, they have learned to fight for theirrights with their political power. However, there are some problems in their politicalparticipation obviously, they still need to expand the scale and contents of their politicalparticipation, but as the enhancement of their economic strength and social status, they willexert a greater influence in Canadian politics in the future. Moreover, under the impetus ofthe Chinese community and Chinese media, the prospects of the political participation of theChinese Canadian will even brighter.
