The Study On The Influences Of The Overseas Chinese In Canada On Sino-Canadian Relationship Since1970

In1970, China established formal diplomatic relations with Canada. Entering the new century, with the rapid development of the two countries, the overseas Chinese in Canada has an important impact on the relationship between the two sides. They experienced a transition from "by-stander" to active participant roles. Meanwhile, they not only inherited the Chinese nation tradition, but also opened up a new method which is more acceptable for Canadian mainstream society. In a word, they are the folk ambassadors between the two countries.However, due to the objective existence of social constraints, the overseas Chinese in Canada has a degree of negative influence. The large influx of investment immigration made the local labor market more competitive than ever, and the "China threat theory" also plus national unrest and antagonistic attitude. At the same time, the illegal immigration and illegal Chinese rampant behavior have also become the sensitive factor between the two countries.This paper focuses on the influence of the overseas Chinese in Canada between the two sides. Admittedly, while acknowledging the positive impact of overseas Chinese in Canada, we still need to be properly attention and concern for the negative effects in the China-Canada relations. At the last but not the least, it is important to draw on the advantages and avoid disadvantages to promote the long-term development.
