The Contemporary Sphere Of Marx's Spiritual Production Theory

Spiritual production as one of the basic forms of socialproduction that has drawn more attention from thinkers toresearch since ancient times, which is different frommaterial production and human production. The existence ofMarx’s spiritual production theory was based on the greatachievements that the bourgeois classical politicaleconomists and German classical philosophers have made.Marx’s theory can be regarded as a kind of criticism anddevelopment to the previous viewpoints, and it is one ofthe significant parts of historical materialism.According to the text of the classical writers and thecontemporary perspective, at first this paper narrates thebasic connotation and features of Marx’s spiritualproduction theory to manifest its true meaning, to analyzethe reasons which made the theory were ignored in the pastand to counterattack the censure for Marxist historicalmaterialism. And then, it analyzes the contemporary valueof Marx’s spiritual production to reveal thecontemporaniness and scientificialness of Marx’sspiritual production theory. At last, the paper states thecontemporary development of spiritual production and itstheory, discusses the emergence of “knowledge economy” and its influence for spiritual production and thespiritual production theory.This paper contains three parts except theintroduction.In order to gain a clear understanding, with thecontemporary perspective the first part summarizes the maincontents and essential features from classical texts toanalyze the main causes of this theory has long been ignored,and then to prove the important position of Marx’sspiritual production theory and respond all kinds ofchallenges to Marxist theory.The second part states the contemporary values ofMarx’s spiritual production theory from three aspectsrespectively. Marx’s spiritual production theory playsimportant role in understanding the implications of“Science and technology is the first productive force”,“Building a harmonious socialist society” and“All-round development of human freedom”. It shows theguiding significance in today’s economic and socialdevelopment. Depend on the above analysis, the significantvalues of can be found Marx’s spiritual production theoryin contemporary China.The third part studies the current development ofspiritual production theory. First of all, it points outthat the development of spiritual production has the background of globalization and industrialization whichmakes economic and social development has new forms and newdynamics. Secondly, it illustrates that “knowledge-basedeconomy” which is the dominant force changes the spiritualproduction and spiritual production theory. Through thediscussion about these issues it is obviously to see thatspiritual production plays more important role thanmaterial production, and even there is a trend to replacethe dominant position of material production. Thirdly, onthe basis of Marx’s “alienation” theory, it brieflypoints out the “alienation” problems which has appearedor will appear in spiritual production theory and try togive some methods and measures for them.
