Bai Juyi Creation Psychology Research

Since eighty’s in last century, research of mentality is graduallybecoming a new perspective of literary research. Although it is historicalresearch category, but psychological specific components has attractedmany scholars’ interest. On this study, everyone makes a careful anddetailed analysis, and provides a new paradigm for the study of ancientliterature works. The research category, mainly divided into individualpsychology study and group psychology research; the research methodscontain text analysis, cultural analysis and historical analysis method.Researchers who mainly adopt one, or three and use the traditionalpsychological analysis, have achieved important results in the study ofindividual and group psychology. The famous ones mainly contain LuoZongqiang metaphysics and the mentality of scholars in the weijinDynasties、the research of the mentality of scholars in the late MingDynasty,Dong Naibin LiShangyins’ world of the deep hearts, ZuodonglingWang Xue and the mentality of scholars in the late Ming Dynasty, YaoShuyithe mentality of scholars in the Yuan Dynasty, Zhang Yi libersting andawe-Chinese scholars attitude, Ning Jiayu the scholar personality ofweijin Dynasties–the spiritual research in Shi Shuo Xin Yu, therelevant paper is more be too numerous to enumerate.In recent years, along with the ancient literature research ismultidisciplinary and multi-angle, the mentality of Bai Juyi alsogradually becomes a hot spot. Such as the dream died out--history ofTang dynasty literati mentality(ChiWanXing, LiuHuairong), scholars’living attitude and literature of Tang dynasty (WuZaiqing); somebiographies of BaiJuyi are also included; many thesis are also concerns,such as JianChangchun not more roads, not back into the mountains--BaiJuyi’s opinion for‘zhongyin’and its influences、 ZhaoRongwei discussion on the creation mentality of BaiJuyi’s late leisure poetries"、ZhuXiaorong, WuZaiqing WangWei,BaiJuyi’s poetic style in psychologicaldiscrimination--from the conditioning disposition to reconcile life、WuZaiqing, LiJing tones of the Tang literati relegation on the life andmentality、Song Jidong research on the later creative mentality ofBaiJuyi and so on, can be said to have achieved certain results. But thereis a band before, some just discussed for certain stage, after all, itis not comprehensive enough, especially lacking the whole lives’creationmentality of BaiJuyi from overall and detailed angle, so it is inevitablefor us to have a sense of regretful. Therefore, this paper starts fromthe thought of BaiJuyi, which can be divided into three periods beforeand after, and compared with the poet’s ideological beliefs、life’sexperiences、 affection and friendship、 political environment and thesame period’s lives and mentalities of scholars, with its poetries asthe basis and evidence, the mentalities in three different periodicallyideological dominations will be fully displayed. The research method,based on the text analysis as the foundation, an integrated perspectiveof culture and history analysis, combined with the psychological andideological analysis, tries to objectively show Bai Juyi’s mentality.This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter will makethe thought of BaiJuyi’s whole life as a definition, sort out the thoughtgenerally, and research each stage’s appearance for his mentality, underthe control of his thought. The second chapter discusses thecharacteristic of the mentality with the control of the early thought,namely taking the positive and enterprising mentality to theworld for a lord. On the one hand, this kind of attitude’s formationare closely related with his family’s background and life experiences;on the other hand, it can be conveied through his literary creations andofficial career’s performances. The third chapter analyses the struggling mentality as the adaptive status but great aspiration has notdisappeared. A prominent feature of this mentality is the change of thepoetries’theme, the other is the unwillingness in the heart with themisture of Buddhism、Confucianism and taoistic thought. The fourth chapterdescribes the poet’s later mentality——the doctrine of mean and quietcalm state of mind. This can be seen from the forming of “zhongyin”mentality and the pain from leisurely and comfortable life. The fifthchapter focuses on the characteristic and influence of BaiJuyi’screational mentality, comparing with the related scholars suffered withfrustration as a unique perspective, summing up the unique mentality ofBaiJuyi, also making for a summary from a macroscopic perspective. Hopethat the above efforts could be helpful to BaiJuyi’s poetry and thought’sresearch, and had some significances in the field of the research forthe BaiJuyi’s mentality.
