Awareness about the dreams and fantasy as the main content of the film has a great number, no one put them together for a systematic study, this paper will put this type of films together to sort out for the study and interpretation. Freud psychoanalytic theory is one of the most influential contemporary disciplines in20th century, it affects a broad concept of the20th century, literature and art, including film, Freud’s psychoanalytic theory is also a important contemporary literary critical method, it is this paper’s theoretical tool used to analyze the films.This paper is divided into four parts, the first part is summarizing,defining and classifying films of dreamland and fantasy as the main content in the history. And explaining background and rooted soil of dreams and fantasy films. The second part is the analysis of dreams and fantasy movies that are distant from impact of Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, mostly are commercial films,to study this part of the movies how to borrow dream mechanism of Freud’s psychoanalytic theory to build a wonderful story. The third part is to investigate the dreamland and fantasy films that are closely related to Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, by Freud’s theory to reveal the deeper meaning of the films. The fourth part examines image style and narrative structure of dreamland and fantasy films.The innovation of this paper is to list dreamland films as object of study, which is unique. And using a specialized theory of human psychology to study films of the spiritual world of human beings, we can dig deeper and unique meaning of films. Hoping to give inspiration and help to production and criticism of the films with similar content in the future.
