This dissertation, which mainly discusses from such different aspects betweendesign sketch and traditional sketch and also on the basis of the analysis of thecomposition of a picture, the distinction between technique of expression andappreciation of the beauty, probes into design sketch in the college entranceexamination in a meticulous and deepgoing way.Although it always exists in the creation of art, design sketch forms late as aindependent and specific artistic form. Moreover, the emergence of design sketch whichis a required course of design major in college is related to the curriculum and teachingand it is seen as a requisite basic skill for the future designers. All of these make designsketch a clear quantification standard of a certain skill which directly reflects in collegeentrance examination of art major.Nowadays a lot of professional art colleges testdesign sketch of the students who enter themselves for an examination professionaldesign in the art test-centering, because compared with the test of traditional sketch,design sketch is more suited for the test of students’ adaptability to changes andcognitive competence.This test makes demand of students’ integrativecompetence.Meanwhile, it challenges to professional art teaching in high school-----how can we do design sketch teaching to cope with college entrance examination? It isthe question that is discussed profoundly in this dissertation. Generally speaking, thefocus of sketch teaching is students’ basic literacy training of sketch, such asobject-image shaping, achromatic color (black, white, grey), and the skills and tools aretraditional and conservative. Design sketch emphasizing concept and thinking which isdifferent from traditional sketch is a brand-new skill of visual communication andmodeling.Students must be transited smoothly from the study of traditional sketch to thesituation of the study of design sketch in our teaching. When consolidating thefoundation of sketch and infusing the skill of image-shaping into design sketch, wemust change students’ set thinking, integrate the sense of modern design and inspireabstract thinking, creative thinking and innovative consciousness. We also lead students to realize the relation between sketch and design from the macroscopic, entire andsystematic angle. We may help students create complete and impacting works of designsketch with presentation Languages of sketch and skills to improve design concept andability.In my view, the focus of the teaching of design sketch in high school is to helpstudents learn the steps of drawing in the course and what is the most important is tohelp students learn how to analyse and comprehend things, train students to master thenature of things, clear up design thinking and form the ability of design thinking. It willnot only ensure the professional art college entrance examination of students,but it alsohelp students keep clear design thinking,update concept, improve the ability of imagerythinking,and let students give full play to their own personal potential. They will designmore smoothly, get better result of design and reflect design intention thoroughly.Therefore, fundamental sketch and design sketch are both essential courses.
