During the late20th century, Domestic Animation School survived in the large context of social transformation when the planned economic system from which domestic animation derived gradually disappeared. On the contrary, the new market economy began being established. In order to adapt to the new broadcast environment and the production methods, Mr. Black, Calabash Brothers series met with the audiences, and the film Lotus Lantern also took on the screen, which are new changes made in domestic animation field. More animation types like explorations and scientific fiction took on with the changes in terms of operation of animation. As a result, commercial animation has gradually become the main stream of domestic animation. The substance of the new changes in the Chinese animation during the late20th century is the result of emergence and development of commercial animation which directly influences the production of domestic animation in the21st century.In this paper, the first chapter briefly introduces the background of the domestic animation changes in terms of transmission technology, the main group of domestic production and theories during the end of the20th century. The second one is a concrete manifestation of this change based on the three perspectives such as animation content, expression methods and operation skills. The truth is explained in the next chapter that the appearance and development of commercial animation based on the comparison between Chinese animation and Japan and Korea’s is the essentiality of domestic animation. The last chapter turns to the domestic animation nowadays, which may give us some inspirations drawn from the changes.
