Tang And Song Dynasty "in Xijiang" Word Study

Xijiangyue is the one of the most famous names of tunes in the Tang and Song Dynasties. It appeared early in the Tang Dynasty. After the initial development, it reached its prosperity in the Song Dynasty. It has very important significance of poetries to collect and study the situations of its development during the Tang and Song Dynasties.This paper elaborates the course of the development of Xijiangyue during the Tang and Song Dynasties and discusses much about the forms, rhythm, and affections of the tune to reveal the lasting charm and the sources of this tune and discuss the tracks of its development and the characteristics on themes and the means of artistic expression, etc.There are three parts of the paper. The first part is mainly about the tune itself, the situations and methods of the studies, the significance and the innovation of the paper. The second part is the synthetic discourse. It mainly expounds these items:the forms of the poetries of Xijiangyue, the names of the tune, the sources and the affections. This part involves the particularity of Xijiangyue, the process of creating, the kinds of themes, and the artistic characteristics. The last part is the separate discourse. It mainly discusses the selections, application and the characterristics of this tune based on some representative poets, such as Ouyang Jiong, Liu Yong, Su Shi and Xin Qiji, etc. The epilogue orientates the status and value of the works of Xijiangyue by putting them into the history of poetries.
