The Singer Of Walking

Abstract:Through close reading of Yan Geling’s works, the paper tries to make a specific interpretation of Marginal Man in her novels. The study breaks the boundaries of the subject matter and makes an overall description of people who are alieated from the social mainstream. Based on the analysis of what these people are lost in and stick to, the paper puts her female characters who are characterised by Earth-Mother under special attention. At the same time this thesis tries to find out the relationship between Yan Geling’s personal experience, her unique aspiration of writing and the roles in her novels to reveal her ideal and persuit on literature.
