Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius(480-524) is an encyclopedic thinker of medieval Europe.His research field involved philosophy, theology, mathematics, literature and music, and maderemarkable achievements. Boethius done a detailed study of the "liberal arts", and wrote fourbooks about the quadrivium. his famous aesthetic thought of music, is included in the“Fundamentals of Music”.Article aims to research Boethius’ aesthetic thought of music,andsupplemented by in-depth study in philosophy and theology;to discuss particularly with Boethius’number theory to revealed the essence of the aesthetic thought of music; to compare similaritiesand differences of the Boethius and Pythagoreans’ aesthetic thought of music, to show thefeatures of Boethius’ aesthetic thought of music. Trying to make people fully understand theunique value of the Boethius’ aesthetic thought of music, so that people can see a clearer andthree-dimensional Boethius.
