Mozart’s operas, the milestone in music history, had much greater influence than his instrumental music did.The opera Idomeneo, though not the one of the best operas of Mozart, was recognized as Mozart’s first classicalworks in his growing maturity of composition. The aria this paper disserted is a highlight of Idomeneo. The ariadepicts Elettra as a tragic character vividly. In order to give this aria a proper interpretation, a singer must havenot only some knowledge about the life of Mozart, the background of this opera, the style of Mozart’s music, butalso have the right technique to sing this aria with understanding of the mentality of the dramatic persona so as tocreate a believable person on arena.
