“Weixing” was a kind of gambling in the Guangdong province in thelate Qing Dynasty. It was based on the student’s name, according to thenumber of pairings. With official approval, it became the largestgambling.“Weixing” was attached to the test. With the abolition of theimperial examination, it can also decline. Although the time is not long,but have a great influence, relates to all aspects of society. When itflourished, the tax revenue has become an important part of Guangdong.And these taxes were put into national defense construction. It playedan important role of in Guangdong modernization.Though it brings many positive effects, but also caused a lot of socialproblems. The phenomenon of cheating on exam is very serious. Officialsof aggravate become contradiction. Along with it approval, the othergambling also have rapid development. It makes the Guangdong become “Beton the country”. Theft and other violent crime happen ceaselessly, andthe family tragedy emerges in an endless stream. As for the reduced tostealing, prostitution, beggar is ever beyond count, the social order inchaos.
