The Pre-qin Fish Image And Its Meaning

The development of fish image has experienced a long and tortuous process. In China, fish is apopular decorative image. This paper traces origins of Chinese ancient civilization with fish image inPre-Qin Dynasty as the object of study. This paper tries to classify the shapes of the fish images bysummarizing and contrasting from the perspective of history and typology in order to identify themorphological changes of the logic of fish image and to further investigate the humanities factors thatdetermine the changes. The latter part of the paper discusses the development of connotations of fishimage. Finally, this paper reveals the cultural meaning of fish image in carriers such as bronze and jadein Shang dynasty, Zhou dynasty and the Warring States according to functions of objects and contrast ofliterature.
